Historia

The Tango, born in Buenos Aires, is a musical genre and a folk dance that conquered the world with its music, dance, lyrics and poetry. In essence, tango is a distinct urban artistic expression which responds to the concrete historical process of mass immigration, mostly European, which fully reconstituted the Río de la Plata society, Buenos Aires especially, in the last decades of the nineteenth century. No other dance connects two people more closely, both emotionally and physically. Dancing tango is built on three basic components: the embrace, slow walking style and improvisation. But above all things, dancing is like a body language that communicates endless intense emotions.

Tango is much appreciated by the subjects of its lyrics, composed on the basis of a local language called "lunfardo". The heartbreak is a common theme that shows the inner life, emotion and depth of a spiteful man. Sexual desire came to the surface of the hard life of millions of solitary workers and immigrants for whom brothels accentuated the evidence of their loneliness. Thinking about the time is also a very special feature of the tango lyrics, performing a torn look over the destructive effect of time in relationships, things and life itself.
